Description The “Sparviero” is not a fictional name. In the early 1930s, Savoia-Marchetti engineers developed the SM.79 as a high-speed civilian transport aircraft. However, it proved to be too fast for its intended role. Its performance and structural strength made it far more suitable for military use. The aircraft was soon converted into a torpedo bomber and became one of the most effective and recognizable Italian aircraft of the Second World War. Known as the “Il Gobbo Maledetto” due to its distinctive dorsal hump, the Sparviero earned a reputation for speed, precision, and resilience over the Mediterranean. Terra Cielo Mare translates this heritage into a mechanical timepiece. Concept and Materials The bronze case is a deliberate design choice.
